I will be available for a regular time slot each week, to provide practical and theoretical advice and instruction on learning to play the piano. The lesson will be tailored to your individual learning style and ability, with workbooks, exercises and developmental challenges. By the end of the lesson, I will aim for you, the pupil, to have a clear understanding of how to practice and develop through the week on what we have learned in the session. It is important to understand that most improvement and development will take place in your personal practice between our weekly sessions. Learning music is a language and needs to be worked at consistently over regular intervals.
My hourly rate is £30 but I also teach in 30 and 45 minute sessions at £15 and £22.50 respectively. This is required to be paid prior to or during the session. If the pupil is in arrears at any point, I cannot teach them again until the account is brought back into balance. If, for any reason, I am unable to attend our sessions, I will either refund the money that has been paid or credit the payment towards the next session, by mutual agreement.
I teach throughout the year, with the exception of the two weeks around Christmas, and yearly vacation weeks. If you need to cancel a session, I will require 24 hours notice, otherwise the session will be charged as usual. In addition to Christmas, I am happy for my clients to take up to 8 additional weeks off in the year, of whatever dates they choose. However, in the interests of continuous and consistent learning, more absences than this will have to be charged for, and frequent (or unscheduled) absenteeism will result in the student losing their weekly slot.
